November 2014 Book Haul

Hi,

So this month i brought 11 books and they are ...

On November 3rd i went to The Tower of London and going home a train station was out of power and we had to go through Waterloo and the train was delayed by 70 minutes so i went into Foyles in Waterloo station and brought two books

The World of Ice & Fire, The Untold History of Westeros - George R R Martin.

The never before seen history of Westeros and the lands beyond, the world that inspired the award-winning HBO television series, Game of Thrones.

George R R Martin, in collaboration with Elio M. Garcia, Jr. and Linda Antonsson, has written a comprehensive history of the Seven Kingdoms, featuring the epic battles, bitter rivalries, and daring rebellions that lead up to the events in his bestselling A Song of Ice & Fire series.

Collected within this volume is the accumulated knowledge, scholarly speculation and inherited folk tales of maesters and septons, maegi and singers, including over 170 full-colour illustrations and maps, family trees for the Houses Stark, Lannister and Targaryen, and in-depth explorations of the history and culture of Westeros.

From the Age of Heroes to the coming of the First Men; from the arrival of Aegon the Conqueror with his dragons to the fall of the Mad King, this is the dramatic backdrop to the struggle for power that is played out in George R.R Martin's worldwide bestselling series A Song of Ice & Fire and HBO's award winning Game of Thrones.

My True Love Gave To Me - Edited By Stephanie Perkins

On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me ...This beautiful collection features twelve gorgeously romantic stories set during the festive period, by some of the most talented and exciting YA authors writing today. The stories are filled with the magic of first love and the magic of the holidays.

Then of course when a new Cassandra Clare book is released i get it straight away

The Bane Chronicles - Cassandra Clare

The Bane Chronicles (The Bane Chronicles) The perfect gift for Shadowhunters. This gorgeous illustrated hardback brings 10 stories about immortal warlock Magnus Bane together for the first time, along with a bonus never-before-seen tale. A fan-favourite character from Cassandra Clare's Shadowhunter Chronicles, Magnus features in The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices, Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy and the movie of City of Bones. Magnus will never be able to tell all of his tales. No one would believe him. But these stories shed a little light on his often inscrutable character. They are stories he probably wishes had never got out.

Then my Nan brought me a book

To Defy a King - Elizabeth Chadwick

The adored and spirited daughter of England's greatest knight, Mahelt Marshal lives a privileged life. But when her beloved father falls foul of the volatile and dangerous King John, her world is shattered. The king takes her brothers hostage and Mahelt's planned marriage to Hugh Bigod, son of the Earl of Norfolk, takes place sooner than she expected. Mahelt and Hugh come to care for each other deeply, but Hugh's strict father clashes with the rebellious Mahelt. When more harsh demands from King John threaten to tear the couple's lives apart, Mahelt finds herself facing her worst fears alone, not knowing if she-or her marriage-will survive.

Next i only brought this book because it was Hardback and 1.99 and i was going to need to buy this book anyway because i will probably be doing a book to movie review next year

Fifty Shades of Grey - E l James

When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realise she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success—his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family—Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

My Dad lives about an hour away in Buckinghamshire and we went for lunch as we were waiting i went next door into a charity shop because all the books were 50p so i brought 4 books

If You Could See Me Now - Cecelia Ahern

Elizabeth Egan's life runs on order: Both her home and her emotions are arranged just so, with little room for spontaneity. It's how she counteracts the chaos of her family -- an alcoholic mother who left when she was young, an emotionally distant father, and a free-spirited sister, who seems to be following in their mother's footsteps, leaving her own six-year old son, Luke, in Elizabeth's care. When Ivan, Luke's mysterious new grown-up friend, enters the picture, Elizabeth doesn't know quite what to make of him. With his penchant for adventure and colourful take on things large and small, Ivan opens Elizabeth's eyes to a whole new way of living. But is it for real? Is Ivan for real?

The Gates of Rome - Conn Iggulden

The year is 53 B.C. Fresh from victory in Gaul, Julius Caesar leads battle-hardened legions across the Rubicon river-threatening Rome herself. Even the master strategist Pompey is caught unprepared by the strike, and forced to abandon his city. The armies of Rome will face each other at last in civil war, led by the two greatest generals ever to walk the seven hills. Thus begins Conn Iggulden's towering saga of Julius Caesar as he approaches his final destiny--a destiny that will be decided not by legions but by his friend Brutus and an Egyptian queen named Cleopatra, who will bear his only son....
For Caesar, the campaign against Pompey will test his military genius and his appetite for glory to their limits, as the greatest fighting machine the world has ever seen divides against itself in a bloody conflict that will set brother against brother until victory or death. But for Caesar, another kingdom beckons--a world of ancient mysteries and languid sensuality, where a beautiful, bewitching woman waits to snare his heart.
The Gods of War follows Julius Caesar through politics and passion, ruthless ambition and private grief, and into the corruption of power itself. Those he has loved will play a part in his triumphs--as will the jealousy and hatred of his enemies.
From the spectacles of the arena to the whispered lies of conspirators, Conn Iggulden brings to life a world of monumental drama. And at its heart is one extraordinary friendship--marked by fierce loyalty and bitter betrayal, with dark events shrouded in noble ideals.

The Death of Kings - Conn Iggulden

Book two in the Emperor Series

The Field of Swords - Conn Iggulden

Reader Problems Book Tag

Hi so this tag was created by About To Read

so lets get started

1. You have 20,000 books on your TBR. How in the world do you decide what to read next?

I try to choose book that will complete series, or just books that have been on my TRB for a really long time.

2. You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you quit or are you committed?

Quit, otherwise it normally puts me in a reading slump if i carry on with a book I'm not enjoying.

3. The end of the year is coming and you’re so close, but so far away on your Goodreads reading challenge. Do you try to catch up and how?

Try to cram as many books in December as possible failure is not an option.

4. The covers of a series you love do. not. match. How do you cope?

That doesn't bother me as long as i have the books and i can read them at me leisure then I'm okay with the covers not matching.

5. Every one and their mother loves a book you really don’t like. Who do you bond with over shared feelings?

I will just rant about it to my mum she wont have read the book so she just agrees with me.

6. You’re reading a book and you are about to start crying in public. How do you deal?

This actually happened to me i was on the London Underground coming home from Piccadilly and i was reading The Fault In Our Stars and i got to the end and my eyes started watering lucky enough it was July and i had my Sunglasses in my bag and i could put them on. But i did stop reading the book and i put my headphones on and listened to really happy upbeat music.

7. A sequel of a book you loved just came out, but you’ve forgotten a lot from the prior novel. Will you re-read the book? Skip the sequel? Try to find a synopsis on Goodreads? Cry in frustration?!?!?!?

I will go on goodreads and look at the synopsis if that is no help i will try a review on booktube, and if that doesn't work then i cry in frustration.

8. You do not want anyone. ANYONE. borrowing your books. How do you politely tell people nope when they ask?

There is no politeness about it you don't touch my books, you don't look at my books, and you don't breathe on my books no I'm only joking or am i ....

9. Reading ADD. You’ve picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over your reading slump?

Well from present experience i can honestly say i don't know. In the past month i have picked up and put down ...
Trinity - Conn Iggulden
Grave Mercy - Robin LaFevers
Great Expectations - Charles Dickens
Feast For Crows - George R R Martin
The Forrest Of Hands And Teeth - Carrie Ryan

I'm still trying to push myself through If You Could See Me Now by Cecelia Ahern. I have thrown my TBR out the window and just reading what i randomly choose to pull of my shelves.

10. There are so many new books coming out that you’re dying to read! How many do you actually buy?

As many as i could read that month, i like to read new releases as soon as possible so i don't get spoiled.

11. After you’ve bought the new books you can’t wait to get to, how long do they sit on your shelf before you get to them?

In an ideal world i would like for them to never touch my tbr shelves but that's not realistic, so its more like a month or two.

See You Soon

Hi,
so this is the same as the Marry, Kiss, Cliff except its with female characters so lets get started

Round 1)

Faythe Sanders - Shifters Series
Pansy Parkinson - Harry Potter
Celaena Sardothien - Thrones of Glass

This is a pretty easy one

Be
Faythe Sanders

Because she is a bad ass female heroine and doesn't need or want a man to rule over her

Room
Celaena Sardothien

Because she seems like a really nice person to be friends with.

Cliff
Pansy Parkinson

Because she is an evil slytherin  who tried to give Voldermort, Harry

Round 2)

America Singer - The Selection
Katniss Everdeen - The Hunger Games

Be
Rose Hathaway

Like Faythe she is a bad ass female who like to beat up men twice her size

Room
America Singer

Because she is such a sweet and kind person

Cliff
Katniss Everdeen

Only because i wouldn't want to be her and go through The Hunger Games or the rebellion and i wouldn't want to room with her because her nightmare's would probably keep me awake all night

Elizabeth Bennet - Pride & Prejudice
Cammie Morgan - Gallagher Girls
Zoe Redbird - House of Night

Top 5 Wednesday - 19 November 2014 - Rebellion Groups

Hey so it is Wednesday so that means its time for Top 5 Wednesday, this week it is rebellion groups and this was a tough one there was a couple that came to me straight away and will probably be on every body's list because i mean come on they are obvious and there are a few that i was clutching at straws to come up with, so lets get started.

In no particular order we have a villainous rebellion group and that is ...

The Circle (The Mortal Instruments - Cassandra Clare)

Now even though they are the bad guys they are still a rebellion group because they are rebelling against the Clave and were murdering Downworlders witch was against the Covenant ans the Accords and then they instigated a fight/war and lost.

next we have

The Northern Rebels (The Selection - Kiera Cass)

In The Selection Series we have two types of Rebels The Northern and The Southern. The Northern though they attack more often they do not attack to harm they are looking for something whereas the Southern rebels are deadly and aim to kill and wipe out the Royal family. The Northern rebels are looking for the founder of Illea's diaries.

Then we have the most obvious of the lot

Dumbledores Army (Harry Potter -J K Rowling)

The DA it the original rebellion group they rebelled against Umbridge who was put by the ministry to take over Hogwarts. I love the communication coins that are still in use even up to the last book, Dumbledores Army was a beacon of hope for the students who were involved and even became a battle cry used by Nevile in The Deathly Hallows.

Next not really a rebellion group but they do rebel against the system

Divergent's

Tris, Four, Christina, Uriah, Marlene, Zeke, and Tori and some more i cannot think of the names off the top of my head they rebel against Erudite and against Dauntless as well and the very being of their society when the want to break out and go outside the fence that surrounds Chicago.

And Finally you cannot have a rebellion group without

District 13 / The Mockingjay

The MockingJay rebellion started in the first book with a chain reaction of event that lead to the uprising against the Capitol The leaders of the Rebellion are Katniss Everdean, Peeta Melark, Gale Hawthorn, President Coin, Plutarch Heavensbee, Heymitch Abernathy and the rest of the Victors.

Until next time lovelies

Marry, Kiss, Cliff Book Edition Tag

Hello,

So i put 15 names into a pot and picked 3 randomly and then choose which i would rather Marry, Kiss or Cliff its pretty self explanatory so lets get started ...

Key
Marry - Pink
Kiss - Purple
Cliff - Blue

Round 1

Percy Jackson - Heroes Of Olympus
Nicholas Drake - The Drake Chronicles
Mr Darcy - Pride & Prejudice

so this was pretty simple for me i would

Marry
Mr Fitzwilliam Darcy

  Because hes Mr Fitzwilliam Darcy

Kiss
Percy Jackson

Because he is adorable the (16 year old not the 12 year old Percy).

Cliff
Nicholas Drake

i was only able to cliff him knowing that he was a vampire and would survive the fall.

Round 2

William Herondale - The Infernal Devices
Seth Clearwater - Twilight
Cam Hamilton - Wait For You

This was again a pretty easy one

Marry
Mr William Herondale

Because he says one of my all time favourite quotes

“It was books that made me feel that perhaps I was not completely alone. They could be honest with me, and I with them.”

Kiss
Cam Hamilton

Because he is just an amazing guy he bakes loves his family and is just an all round good guy.

Cliff
Seth Clearwater

I feel kind of bad cliffing Seth he is my favourite of the Wolves but then again he is practically indestructible so i don't feel that bad.

Round 3

Harry Potter - Harry Potter
Dimitri Belikov - Vampire Academy
Augustus Waters - The Fault In Our Stars

Marry
Dimitri Belikov

Because he was my first ever book crush and he will forever stay at number one.

Kiss
Augustus Waters

Because hes just so darn cute with his metaphors and his sense of humour.

Cliff
Harry Potter

I can honestly say i have never imagined myself married or kissing Harry it just weirds me out.

Round 4)

Voldermort - Harry Potter
Maxon - The Selection
Four - Divergent

A really easy on for me

Marry
Maxon

because he is a prince and adorable and is trying his best to be a great king

Kiss
Four

Because he is the gorgeous four i mean c'mon who wouldn't want to kiss him

Cliff
 Voldermort

do i really need a reason to do this i mean hes an evil (I'm trying to find a word without swearing) thing.

Round 5)

Mr Knightly - Emma
Jace Herondale - The Mortal Instruments
Gale Hawthorn - The Hunger Games

Marry
Mr Knightly

Because i wish men was more like Him and Mr Darcy

Kiss
Jace Herondale

Because hes a Herondale so hes gorgeous but I'm going to let Clary keep him

Cliff
Gale Hawthorn

You will know my reasoning if you have read mokingjay if you haven't read it.

Until Next Time
