Top 5 Wednesday - Book You Are Thankful For - 25th November 2015

Hello and Happy Thanksgiving to all Americans for tomorrow and let's start with the books I am thankful for ....

In no particular order .....

5. Sleepovers - Jacqueline Wilson

This was the first book I remember ever reading and I still remember the story even well over 10 years on. It also started my obsession with Jacqueline Wilson and I then was obsessed with collecting all of her books.

4. Breathe - Abbi Glines

This book started my love affair with not only Abbi Glines but New Adult as a genre. I have re-read this book and all of her other new adult books.

3. The Diary of A Young Girl - Anne Frank

It sounds weird when you say you are thankful for a book about the holocaust but for me I'm thankful for the story that it is heard all around the world. written by a brave young girl who was doing what many people in those times were doing hiding but in that she created such a timeless and heart wrenching book because you know what happens in the end but you still root for her and this book makes me thankful for all of the people who fought and risked their lives for their generation and future generations.

2. Vampire Academy - Richelle Mead

I really started reading again after reading this book, it was the start again for me after just reading casually again the year previous (2009). Rose's story and her character kept me reading and even to this day she is still my favourite protagonist 5 years on.

1. Eclipse - Stephenie Meyer

So I am not sure if i have mentioned this before i never read Twilight and New Moon i jumped straight in at eclipse because i had just seen both movies i wanted to know what happened next and quickly so i read eclipse then breaking dawn and then i re read eclipse a couple months later this was the first time i had read a book for around 4 years and it really got me into trying different books and then loving them so in 6 years i have gone from 4 books to almost 600 and that is why I'm thankful most to Eclipse because it opened my eyes to all these worlds i never would have known without it.

Royally Jacked - Niki Burnham Series Review - SPOILER FREE

So i was looking for a story about a girl who falls in love with a Prince or something similar when i came across this book series and i brought the bind up and read 1 book a month in September, October and November.
This is a Trilogy set in a small obscure island in Europe and is a funny real and just so damn cute series.

Royally Jacked

In the first book in this very cute trilogy, we start in Virgina, where the main character Valerie's life has been torn apart by her mothers confession, she is a lesbian and is leaving Valerie's Father to move in with her girlfriend called Gabriella. Valerie must then choose who she wishes to live with her mother and Gabby or her father who has just accepted a job working for the royal family of Schwinderborg. When she decides to live with her dad and move into the royal residence of the king and queen she never expects her life to change so dramatically when she meets Prince Georg with chemistry building between them, will a relationship survive with the eyes of the world on them as well as the press hounding them and following them whenever they leave the Palace walls.

Spin Control

In the second novel, Valerie finds herself going back home to visit her friends and family but when she leaves she is on rocky terms with Georg and isn't sure if shes even in a relationship anymore. So when David who she has had a crush on for like EVER asks her on a date she decides to go but when feelings of guilt start creeping in Valerie must choose David or Georg. Also this book centres around Valerie's relationship with her mother, and she finds the answers shes been needing for since it all came out.... What her mum felt like coming out as gay? How she met Gabby? Did her mum cheat on her dad?. This was a beautiful way to fix a broken Mother/Daughter relationship.

Do-Over

The last book in the Royally Jacked Series is a brilliant ending to the series though i was left pretty open, and some people don't like that but i am OK with it. Valerie and Georg relationship takes a turn for the worse when they cant just do normal couple things like go to a school dance and when a woman starts showing interest in Valerie's Dad even more things are changing in her life can she keep up and will her relationship with everyone around her survive.

I hope you give this series a go it is a very cute fluffy quick read, if you have read it let me know what you thought in the comments.

Top 5 Wednesday - Top 5 Hunger Games Moments (Movies or Books)

Hello, so the last Hunger Games movie comes out this week and its bittersweet because i cannot wait to see how to do certain scene but i really don't want it to end. so if you haven't read the Hunger Games Entire Series then be warned there are spoilers below.

lets get started....

5. I Volunteer

The "I volunteer" scene in the books was emotional but watching it in the movie and hearing Prims reaction had me almost crying.

4. "You Don't Forget The Face of The Person Who Was Your Last Hope"

I read this book back in 2012 just before the first film came out and this is the quote that stuck with me from this book and i still love it to this day.

3. Epilogue

I don't know why some people hate this last book i loved it and that ending, i really don't want to spoil anything for the people who haven't read this series yet but it just hit me in the feels and it was a well constructed and written epilogue compared to some. I absolutely cannot wait to see it on the big screen i think i will probably cry.

2. "Real or Not Real?" I tell him "Real"

What a last line to a book, i don't think that spoils too much but if it does I'm sorry. I love this line and what it represents, and like before i cannot wait to see it in the movie.

It was really difficult to choose a picture that didn't spoil anything.

1. "Fire is Catching!. And if We Burn You Burn With Us."

Again both the book and the movie versions were so heart wrenching and i get chills when i watch that scene over. You can just feel the pain and its very real its a WAR.

There is so many more, and if you have done this weeks T5W put the link in the comments i would love to see what you chose.

Longbourn - Jo Baker Spoiler Free Review

Title - Longbourn
Author - Jo Baker
ISBN - 978-0-552-77951-7
My Copy - Purchased
My Rating - 4 / 5
Where You Can Find It - Goodreads - Amazon UK - Amazon US - Waterstones - Barnes & Noble

Longbourn by Jo Baker is a re telling of Pride & Prejudice from the Servants point of view it follows Mr & Mrs Hill, the two maids Sarah and Polly and they are joined by a mysterious man who comes in the darkness and smells of the sea and Mr Bennet give him the job of the new footman. James Smith has many secrets when he meets Sarah a relationship ensues but with a meddling George Wickham will he ever be safe and free to live his life.

Going into this book i had quite high expectations and i will admit it didn't really reach most of them. Some parts of this book was very predictable and if you want a book that has the Bennet's painted in a good light, this is not the book for you. This is a very real depiction of life under the stairs in the regency era. Most of the story was told in the POV of Sarah one of the maids and personally to me it came across as the woman were always horrible and the men were on a pedestal. I figured out James' story almost straight away. James and Sarah's relationship to me was very rushed and for the time no one seemed to bat an eyelid, Mrs Hill and the rest of the staff just ignored it and SPOILERS ***** when James left and Mrs Hill just asked her practically over dinner if she was with child *****.

I did like aspects Longbourn, it was cleverly written the way it follows Pride & Prejudice. I also was very happy with how real it the life people lived back then was depicted. With cleaning of clothes and "Napkins" used during their times of the month, and in a house with up to 8 woman that is a lot of washing. We also find out more about the Bingley's and how they came into money by using Slaves and importing Sugar and his butler is the other man in a love triangle that doesn't really take off.

So overall I gave this book 3 Flags because it was enjoyable but very predictable

**** full SPOILER review coming soon ****

Top 5 Wednesday - Books You Did Not Finish - 11th November 2015

Hello Friends, so its very rare if i don't finish a book but most of the times its either i have been too spoiled or the book just didn't grab my interest quick enough...

so in no particular order ....

5. The Library of the Dead - Glen Cooper

I brought this book in a hospital shop while i was visiting someone and i needed something to read for the journey home i read about 50 pages on the way home and never touched the book again.

4. The Luxe - Anna Godbersen

I started this book a couple of months ago and then i googled the book to see how many books where in this series and came across a review on goodreads that told me what happened at the end, and i am about 40 pages in and i don't want to read it now because i feel like i wont get the same experience as if i was reading it without knowing the ending. (I'm pretty sure that's makes no sense not even to me)

3. Will Greyson, Will Greyson - John Green & David Levithan

I love John Green and i have read one other David Levithan book but i didn't get passed the second page on this book for some strange reason i don't even know why i love the synopsis and i thought this would be fantastic i don't know if i just wasn't in the mood or something i may give this another shot in the future but I'm not sure.

2. Wolf Hall - Hilary Mantel

I started Wolf Hall when the TV series was on BBC2 but when i didn't like the TV series i stopped reading the book because to me they were very similar so i thought the book probably wont get any better. maybe when i can get how bad the TV series was out of my head i can try to read this again i mean it must be good it won the Man Booker Prize.

1. A Discovery of Witches - Deborah Harkness

I think for its the size of this book that makes me not want to finish it but what i read i did like but i just have to find the time when i can read such a huge book.
