When Marla Jacobs discovers that the shop next to her Little White Wedding Chapel is to become a funeral parlour, she declares all-out war.
Marla’s chapel in the sleepy Shropshire countryside has become a nation-wide sensation, but the arrival of Funeral Director Gabriel Ryan threatens everything Marla has worked for. She can picture the scene: wedding limos fighting for space in the street with hearses; brides bumping into widows; bouquets being swapped for wreaths.
Marla’s not going down without a fight. She enlists a motley crew of weird and wonderful local supporters, and battle lines are drawn. But, as soon as Marla meets her nemesis, she realises just how much trouble she’s really in. His rugged good looks and Irish lilt make her stomach fizz – how is she supposed to concentrate on destroying him, when half the time she’s struggling not to rip the shirt off his back?
I read this book in one sitting it had me laughing, crying, and swooning. It is one of those books that you think is going to take a couple of days to read then you start and cant stop, i only recently got into Kat French's novels but so far out of the two i have read this is my favourite, it hooked me from the very first page and i never wanted it to end.
Marla and Gabriel are two of the most opposite characters you will ever meet and that is why they just work with her Americanism's and his Irish Brogue set in the middle of the English country side, they both had their ups and their downs but they both weathered through, they both showed incredible strength through everything. And like in the other Kat French book i have read the cast of friends are just a riot they never fail to make you smile or make your jaw drop even if some of it was a tiny bit predictable at times but i really enjoyed it anyway. There were also some antagonists and they were very well written into the story and how they connected everything.
When i first started reading this book i had no idea how they would ever sort them selves out to end up in a relationship, it is a story of love, friendship, family and drama. A real page turner it is one of those books you cant put down it feels magical when you read it and when it is over all you want to do is read more from the author. It is such a odd concept that you would never think of having a funeral home next to a wedding chapel but it works as a concept because of the way it was written. I highly recommend this book it was a fun read that i will definitely re read when i feel like i need a boost in my life.
Until Next Time
Happy Reading
