Top 5 Wednesday - Books You DNF - 23rd March 2016

Hello, so I am pre writing all of my T5W posts this month otherwise I will be rushing around trying to get them up or just completely forget about them so this week is all about books you Did Not Finish and I am pretty sure we did this before but who cares I am doing it again .....

5.The Luxe - Anna Godbersen

I was spoiled on this book so i decided it wasn't wort it to carry on.

4. Lament - Maggie Stiefvater

I have tried to read this a couple times but never really got that far into it, and with Stiefvater's writing you really do need to push through till you get used to it.

3. The Forrest of Hands and Teeth - Carrie Ryan

I am just not that big of a fan of Zombie books and this was the first i tried and i would like to finish it but i don't think i will.

2. Pretties - Scott Westerfeld

I read Uglies and that was a push for me to get through and i started this a couple days after and just could not get into it.

1. Wuthering heights - Emily Bronte

I really wanted to read this and i tried so hard to but i just couldn't get into it or the characters i am going to give it another go sometime this year but who knows.

** DISCLAIMER**

This is a adult book and i don't recommend reading this if you are under the age of 16 or even 18 and really depends on yourself and what you feel comfortable reading, also this review will contain some words not suitable for younger readers.

This was a complete and utter mind fuck, i went through the whole thing thinking I'd spoiled myself when i was looking to see how many pages there was and the BAM a twist right at the end.
This is the first Gillian Flynn book i have read and i cannot wait to read more by her, she has such a twisted mind and it will keep you guessing again and again.....

The characters were not the best, but you get so sucked into the story you don't care about the characters anymore, and that is a really odd concept to me since i normally love the characters more than the story, but this was not the case they were just morally and generally twisted in their views i think of the entire cast of characters there was around one normal person in the whole town.

The story was really good it sucked you in and kept you there till the very end this is a lesser known book by Flynn but i have to say it is so good and i believe it was her Debut novel so that gives her some pretty damn good credit if her more popular book is better than this i cant wait to read more.

Personally i don't thing this book will be for everyone at all some of the characters are a little hard to swallow and the main character is one of them, so if you can bypass that i suggest you give this book a go, it is one hell of a ride.

I gave this book 4 Flags because, even though i couldn't care less about the characters the story and feel of the book brought this to such an amazing place in my mind, it will forever be one of my favourite Thrillers.

The Birthstone Book Tag

I saw this floating around on Booktube a couple of weeks ago and decided i needed another tag for this month so i decided to do it lets get started....

1. January (GARNET):
Associated with warding off negative forces and dark energies - Name a book with the darkest/evilest character you can think of.

Definitely Voldermort from Harry Potter, because i mean he is a evil character who tries to kill a baby and kills loads of other people.

2. February (AMETHYST):
Purple is associated with royalty - Name a book with regal qualities... You can base this off of characters of choose the King of all books

Stormbird by Conn Iggulden because it tells the tale of a 30 year civil war in England and it is magnificent and i cant believe the series is ending in May.

3. March (AQUAMARINE):
Washed out - Name a 'wishy washy' character, a character who is not strong or a follower

Zoe Sage from The Bloodlines Series by Richelle Mead, she turned her own sister in to a organisation that her and her father blindly follow.

4. April (DIAMOND):
A diamond in the rough - Name a book that you loved but is not well known

The Long Game by J L Fynn, i got this in a goodreads giveaway back in 2013 and i loved it it was the first New Adult book i read and it will forever be in my heart.

5. May (EMERALD):
Said to balance energy - Name two characters who balance each other well

Rose and Dimitri from Vampire Academy, she acts first and asks questions later while Dimitri has more self control over himself and his emotions and they bring out the best in each other.

6. June (PEARL):
Associated with loyalty - Name a character who is loyal to the end

Percy Jackson, i don't have to say any more than that. It is one of his mortal flaws for gods sake.

7. July (RUBY):
Blood red - Name a book that made your blood boil, one that made you angry

Allegiant by Veronica Roth - NO WORDS, YOU ALL KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. -

8. August (PERIDOT):
Pale green (it pales in comparison to other gems) - Name a supporting character who you like better than the main character

I actually don't have on for this, i like most main characters more that supporting ones.

9. September (SAPPHIRE):
Blue like the ocean which is calming - Name a book that had a calming affect on you

My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick, it had such a calming effect on me, i loved this book and even the cover is calming.

10. October (OPAL): Iridescent
Name an iridescent book, this can be a book with a beautiful cover (Shiny? Lots of colour?) or you can base it off of a character (Quirky? Colourful?)

Ultraviolet - R J Anderson i completely admit this was a cover buy but then i read the back and i was hooked such a pretty cover.

 11. November (TOPAZ):
Associated with resilience - Name a books with a character who rises to the top in a time of adversity

Henry VII in The White Princess by Philippa Gregory, he rises up and takes the crown in a time where the yorkists are mad that the princes and right full Heirs have gone missing and Richard III is behind it.

12. December (BLUE ZIRCON):
Associated with friendship - Name a book with a friendship you want to be apart of

The Rosemary Beach series by Abbi Glines the entire group of friends just seem like a riot it would never be boring and with Dean and Kiro dropping in you know drama is going to follow them around.

Myles - Lisa Helen Gray - Spoiler Free Review

Title - Myles
Author - Lisa Helen Gray
Series - The Carter Brothers Series #3
Genre - New Adult
My Copy - Purchased
Format - Kindle
Where You Can Find It - Goodreads - Amazon UK - Amazon US

Kayla is broken after being bullied, violated, raped & beaten, she finally stands up to the person who broke her and she moves back home, but going back to school is a daunting thought but its a good thing she has Myles Carter to protect her when it first happened he was there to help her, so she manages to go to school and face the people who aided in her bullying but she has a secret, the abuse didn't stop at school it carried on and was dealt by the one person who is meant to love you unconditionally. Can Myles push past her walls and find the girl who he needs to save or will Kayla push him away because she still feels dirty?

Myles was the most difficult to read as it was about a character who has had so many horrible things dealt her way in the past and in the present, it was very sad and emotional. I enjoyed it but i just feel there is way too much abuse and rape in this series and need a very long break before i read anything in that subject again.

The characters felt the most real in this book, where as before you could sort of feel a fakeness that you don't realise is there till you read this book. You can feel the pain, the happiness, and the sadness in every page.

Story wise, it again like the previous two books it centres around a character trying to live after being the victim of Rape, Abuse, and bullying. But all so it deals with a persons mentality after they have been raped and trying to start a new life and a relationship it was very hard hitting and by far the best in the series so far.

For the characters, they were not the best couple but they were the best characters so far, and they also have the best development and the rest are the same as usual but we are seeing them "grow up" and get married and have children so that is nice and i hope in future books we get the same information as well.

I gave this book 4 stars because i feel that this entire series centres around abuse and it is starting to feel like its the same story but different circumstances, that is my only mark down.

Top 5 Wednesday - Fictional Items You Want - 16th March 2016

Hello, so i am writing all of my T5W on the 1st of March because if i don't i probably will forget to do them so here is the 3rd for this month and it is all about the fictional items you want to own ..... most of these things are sharp pointy things I think that says a lot about my mind set but let's get started .....

5. Riptide -Percy Jackson

I don't know why but I would love a pen that turns into a sword.

4.  A Silver Stake - Vampire Academy

Again I have an love for things sharp and magical and this is.in both categories.

3. Stele - Shadow Hunter Chronicles

I would love to be invisible, and cure an injury with just one rune.

2. Broomstick - Harry Potter

C'mon imagine flying around London at night and avoiding using the tube one thing I actually need.

1. Invisibility cloak - Harry Potter

Again I love the idea of being a fly on the wall and you would be able to see so much being invisible and also I would be able to sneak into the Tower of London at night or creep up on people and scare them.

Mason - Lisa Helen Grey - Spoiler Free Review

Title - Mason
Author - Lisa Helen Gray
Series - The Carter Brothers Series #2
Genre - New Adult
My Copy - Purchased
Format - Kindle
Where You Can Find It - Goodreads - Barnes & Noble - Amazon UK - Amazon US
Denny was force to move in with her nan, when her parents kicked her out when she fell pregnant at 17, but having to come back for a court case puts everything in jeopardy especially the life of her unborn baby. Can Mason and his brothers help her& will Denny and Mason be able to sort their relationship out in time for their baby or will Denny go back to her Grandmothers and never return.....

Mason was a good book, it deals with an emotionally abusive parent, teenage pregnancy and the after effects of being a victim of an attempted rape. Again like the first book it was very emotionally draining and i warn you if you cant read any of those topics then please don't read this book, but if you can it is worth a go the whole series so far is.

The characters were the same as last time we just switched up the lead POV and we had all the same good and all the same bad with a few more bad than last time as well, i swear they multiply by book. Denny was a good POV to read from but unlike last time this time we have a duel POVS so we have Mason and Dennys point of view and i like that a lot better than just one, it was good to see what was going through his head at certain points of the book.

The storyline was much like the first book but with the added drama of pregnancy and the trial it was good not the best i have ever read but what can you expect i have come to realise this series centres around Rape, abuse, and neglect and i think i need breaks in between reading them because they definitely bring you down.

I gave this 3 stars because it was slow at times and also somethings were so obvious and everyone was all like "who is it?", i mean really it pretty predictable. So that took some of the fun out of it but i still enjoyed it. If you do read this series i suggest you read these books in order otherwise i fear that none of it will make sense.
