Best I've Ever Had - Abbi Glines Review

Best I've Ever Had

Title - Best I've Ever Had
Author - Abbi Glines
Genre - Romance
My Copy - ARC/Purchased
Format - Kindle
Where You Can Find It? - Goodreads - Amazon UK - Amazon US - Barnes & Noble - Indigo
Summer had returned to the coastal town of Sea Breeze, Alabama. The nightlife lit up with scantily clad sun-kissed bodies, live music, the smell of freshly cooked seafood.

Taking it all in he wondered if coming back had been the best thing. He wasn’t the same man who had driven out of town a year ago on the motorcycle he’d spontaneously bought after his best friend’s wedding. From the messy blond curls he’d let grow out to the tattoos now covering his arms, part of his chest and even the side of his neck, it all represented a part of his journey.

Eli Hardy was back, but he didn’t plan on staying for long.

The Best I've Ever Had is the third book in the Seabreeze meets Rosemary Beach series and like the other two books in this series it doesn't disappoint. This one follows Eli Hardy who we see quite a lot in the previous books, and Ophelia Finlay, who we only see briefly in the previous books, but they come together for this book and it is a truly amazing experience.
Like most of Glines' books you find yourself loving and rooting for the characters, you find yourself having a connection, or relating to them. Writing a relatable character is a very difficult thing to do but Glines pulls it off every time.

📚📕📗📘📙📚

WARNING *** I am going to go into the book, and if you don't want any spoilers then stop reading now, there aren't going to be many just the general plot but this is a warning anyway. But I will also spoil a little bit from the previous books, so if you still haven't read them then again, I would take caution.

📚📕📗📘📙📚

Abbi Glines has done it again, honestly I don't think I have ever disliked one of her books, once I start reading them I can't seem to put them down, I haven't found another author who captures my attention with their characters as well as Glines does.

This book is no different, it's the same sort of format for all of the books but it feels different, Eli's pain is evident from the start and normally the pain hits them towards the end of the book so watching him grow through the pain was a brilliant move.

I will say Eli's story did remind me a bit too much of Nate's story in the first book but I did overlook that in the end. I don't have much to say about Ophelia other than I liked her and she reminded me of Blaire, as I was reading, I just got a sense of Blaire and it defiantly put a smile on my face, but I will say the book was more about Eli's growth and there was a bit with Ophelia learning to love again but it was more about Eli.

I love all the throwbacks, and the new information we get about the original series, like Bliss and Nate getting married on her families farm because that's where her parents got married, and in this one we get more of the original characters as well, and Cage is just as brash as ever and I do hope that in the future we get to see more of them as well.

But I will say that I saw some mistakes, like when they were in Live bay there is a moment that says Marcus when I'm almost 100% sure it should say Micah, and I would've also liked some more interaction between more of the characters, Eli and Ophelia seemed to stick to the same few people and I don't think Cleo was even mentioned, it was always Crimson or 'my sisters', but other than that, I don't have any problems with it.

Unlike the last few times I actually don't have any idea who the next book could be about, maybe Phoenix Finlay, after that reveal at the end of the book but also maybe not, a lot of things are happening behind the scenes and it got a bit confusing till I sat and thought about it. This book takes place a good year and half since the last one and now Larissa and Micah are married, they were partially mentioned in the first book by Bliss, she only said that they were dating to get off the topic of something else, but they weren't mentioned in the second book, so it could have happened but I would have liked to see it, especially since they are two of the child characters that you saw in the original series, maybe we can have a novella down the line.

Overall, it's a good addition to the series and I just hope that we don't have over a year for the next one, these books give me life. I recommend it to anyone who loves a good light-hearted, sweet book, it will not disappoint.

Sweet Little Thing - Abbi Glines - Review (SPOILER)

Title - Sweet Little Thing
Series - Sweet #1
Author - Abbi Glines
Genre - New Adult > Romance
My Copy - Purchased
Format - IBOOK
Where You Can Find It - Goodreads - Ibooks
The day her mother passed away, Beulah was only given a name. That was it. No other explanation.

Portia Van Allan was not someone Beulah could believe her mother ever knew. Wealthy, self-absorbed and other than the fact Portia was supplying special care for Beulah’s sister, Portia was cruel.

The day Portia’s son returns home for the summer, Beulah discovers that Portia isn’t in charge. This isn’t her home at all. Her late husband left her with nothing. It all belongs to their son who doesn’t seem to like his mother at all.

Jasper Van Allan doesn’t know why his mother has hired a young gorgeous blonde to take care of the house and almost lets her go before he finds out the truth.

Realizing there’s more to Beulah than a stunning face, he keeps finding reasons to be near her all the time. It’s all falling into place, it all begins to make sense . . . until the real lies, the dark secrets, and the skeletons come tumbling out of the Van Allan closet. Twisted truths that will send Beulah running . . .
So as always i pre ordered this book and i was pretty excited about it, but i ended up dissatisfied. Not because it was a bad book but because i felt it was not dissimilar from the Too Far Series also by Abbi Glines.

The characters were quite similar and don't get me wrong, i enjoyed this book and i liked the characters but it didn't feel new, it felt like i was reading a book i had already read.

Beulah was a nice characters POV to read from, she is your typical Glines lead female, sweet, innocent, and falls the one boy she shouldn't have. Jasper on the other hand i feel like we didn't get a lot of him, well not enough for me to have formed either a good or bad opinion of him just yet.

His mother on the other hand is a raging bitch, throughout the entire book she is the epitome of an evil boss, and a crappy mother, then we find she is even more screwed up and not able to take care of a child because she had special needs and treating her own niece who had just lost her mother like rubbish. The one thing i commend her for is the fact that she tells Beulah and Jasper that they are cousins but she should have been honest from the start.

The other characters were OK, none apart from Beulah's 'sister' made an impression i felt like the book was too short, it felt like a novella rather than a book, the story flowed and it was an enjoyable read and i will be continuing on with this story and hopefully i can distance it from the Too Far Series.

Like A Memory - Abbi Glines SPOILER REVIEW

If You Haven't Read This book Check out my Spoiler Free Review HERE

Going into this book i had quite a few ideas of what was going to happen and i was wrong on so many counts and i love when that happens so first lets go through my theories....

So lets start with what i called the biggest theory ....

My biggest theory is that Nate either isn't really engaged and its just a publicity thing for the opening of Octavia's shop or he is being forced into it, but i cannot think of anyone doing that so i am going with the first one and my biggest reasoning is a quote from one of the excerpts above and that is...
" It was before I realised that women weren’t as soft and pretty on the inside as they were on the outside. My mother was perfect, inside and out, but my little sister Ophelia had a definite evil streak."
If he was so in love, wouldn't Octavia be on that list.....

I was right on one account, he wasn't really in love with her but he was engaged. So i am going to count that as wrong

Secondly i think that we are going to either love or hate Octavia, like she will either be the nicest person on  the planet or she will be the Nan of this series.

This was certainly true, she will not be the Nan of the series but she was a definite bitch and i definitely hated her by the end but then i also felt sorry for her when her past came out.

Bliss is going to end up telling Nate about the illness in an argument or he will find out from a third party.

This is true, Nate found out from his grandfather, i personally thought it was going to be Eli. But i loved the way this was done.

After Bliss' illness i have a feeling that Cage and the men are going to be even more protective than before and this will lead to a heated confrontation between Nate and Cage
This again was partly true, the men in her life are particularly protective of her, especially her brothers the Song Cleaning This Gun came into my head when Cruz walked out meeting Nate for the first time. I am actually glad i was wrong about Nate and Cage having a confrontation and i was so happy with the way Cage handled it.

There needs to be a father/son moment in this book between Nate and Rush and we can also add some Dean into that, i am almost a 100% convinced that Dean owns Live Bay, we only really know of one bar in Sea Breeze and what Rocker wouldn't want to own Live Bay where they have live rock acts.
There were quite a few father/son moments and a few with Abe as well but i was completely off about what grandfather was in sea-breeze. Considering the last time we saw Abe he was on a boat loving life in Florida Keys the fact that he would move to Alabama away from his family seemed odd to me where as Dean really has no ties and he opened a restaurant and Dean is the one who loved to cook. But i am glad i was wrong about who owned Live Bay, Krit definitely deserves that bar.

This needs to be a Bliss/Nate HEA because it has promised so much and for people like myself who have been waiting since 2014 for this book and these characters i am more than a little terrified that they wont get a HEA.
We did get a HEA, and it was honestly the best, i loved the way it was handled with her telling him she was infertile and Nate meeting the York's. It was done tastefully and it gave them the ending they deserved. Even if the heartbreak was a bit much and i didn't see what happened with Octavia coming. But i should have because it is kind of normal for books like this to throw a spanner in the works.

This is probably going to be the most emotionally charged book in the entire series because of the topic and the fact that we have literally read them as they were born and then they grew up and it is going to be one hell of an emotional roller coaster and one i am really hoping lives up to the high expectations i have for it.
I was right about the emotionally charged, and it killed me at times seeing a family who i love in so much pain and then you have the fun moments i literally cannot wait to read the rest of this series. i have high expectations for all of them now and that worries me a little but they will be OK.

So that is it for my theories, but there are some things i want to mention.

Normally the next book is set up, and i don't know if its because Glines hasn't decided yet but we have absolutely no idea who the next book is going to be about, i have a feeling it will either be Eli or Lila Kate but i am not sure. It could even be Cruz York.

Then you have the fact that we don't really see much of the Adults, the Rosemary Adults were around more that the Sea Breeze but that is because Nate needed them. And WOW Nan and Grant in the same room without killing each other i'm shocked.

Poor Eli, he was never going to stand a chance and it was kind of sad because that situation is very common and most people have felt it from either side of the coin.

Bliss being infertile was a shock, i actually didn't know chemotherapy could cause infertility and it was kind of a learning curve and it was bittersweet because yes it saved your life but in return it takes a piece of you, It was sad to watch her war with her decision to tell Nate but the way he reacted was perfect and shows how he was raised.

So that is all i wanted to say on the subject of this book that really couldn't be put in a review for people who haven't read it.

Once She Dreamed Part One & Part Two - Abbi Glines - SPOILERS!!!!!!!!

Title - Once She Dreamed Part 1 & Part 2
Series Once She Dreamed
Author Abbi Glines
Genre - New Adult
My Copy - Purchased
Format Kindle
Where You Can Find It - Part 1 - Goodreads - Amazon UK - Amazon US -Barnes & Noble
Where You Can Find It - Part 2 -  Goodreads - Amazon UK - Amazon US
I am not putting the Synopsis because i already did that on the spoiler free post so 😛😛

I honestly don't know where to start, I honestly did not think i was going to enjoy this when i first started reading it, it wasn't until i got to the second part that i actually started reading for enjoyment instead of purely just for finishing and i am so happy and grateful that i pushed on because i saw one of my favourite characters in the Rosemary Beach Series.

Ezra, when we first meet him it didn't even register that he was from a small town in Texas and it didn't register that he was so similar to a character we already knew.
Hale on the other hand was a complete and utter w****r, i loved him in the beginning but that just shows how things were never as they seemed. At first i thought Hale was Reese's brother till i remembered his actual name. I honestly didn't expect anything that happened in the second book, normally i can usually guess what is going to happen but this had my head spinning with every twist and turn.

Back to Ezra, i honestly should have seen this coming, because Major was one of my favourite characters from the Rosemary Beach series and it was so good to see him fall in love. Even though we didn't know it at the time, the ending was so open that i hope we do get another book be it another novella or even a full book where Major/Ezra couldn't stay away from Sammy Jo or even just an update on Sammy Jo.

The story line was good but i am a little confused as to when we see Cope, Nan's Husband, because he says he has to get back to Nan and Axel but their son is called Finn, so i don't know if they had another son because it is a little confusing as to the timing into the Rosemary Beach Series. i think it is quite a few years after up in flames but i cannot be sure.

A lot of people including myself want Sammy to be pregnant because he left after sleeping with her for the first time and the fact that she knew his real name i could just see her having a boy and naming him major and then the fact that she is in Alabama, somehow running into one of the Rosemary Beach characters and them just putting the dots together. But that is just my hope but i doubt that will happen.

I can honestly say i didn't see it coming and now i am so happy i read this series even though not a lot of people did, but it is a good little addition to the Rosemary beach series that gives you a bit of an ending to a character who will all for some reason love.

Until Next Time

Lady Midnight - Cassandra Clare SPOILER REVIEW (PART 2)

If You Haven't Read Lady Midnight Do NOT Read Any Further.....

OK so, there were so many things that happened in this book so lets start right from the beginning and we meet Kit for the first time and i didn't understand this prologue at all until obviously the secret came out at the time i thought it was pointless, so i didn't even mark anything apart from Emma making her first appearance of the book.

When the dead body showed up that's when things really started rolling, and the story making sense of what i at first thought this series is going to be about but again once we find out who the killer i was a bit deflated at first because i thought the entire trilogy was going to be about who is doing the killings and catching that person, but i think the rest of the series is going to be about obviously Annabel Blackthorn and maybe her getting revenge on Nephilim maybe. I don't know.

I fangirled so much in this book and one of the first times was when Ty was described he has unruly black hair and Grey Eyes he is a mixture of Tessa and Will i almost cried, it was magical and hes the only one that looks like that.

The second time was like 10 pages after that and it was when we find out that Jace and Clary run the NY Institute. They have earnt it and it was so good to hear about them and what they are doing with their lives (i will get to the rest of them at the end when i talk about A Long Conversation)

I have to admit i was wondering when this was going to come up, the whole contraception issue. I have seen it asked on Tumblr way to many times and we finally get a conclusion i actually laughed when i read that Clary invented the contraception rune. I can just imagine Jocelyn and Luke's reaction, it would be hilarious.

When we first meet Arthur he seemed very strange, and i actually forgot about his time in Faerie Land with his brother but that is what is wrong with him he hasn't been the same and he thinks Julian is his father it was very sad and also for Julian who killed his father that must be like a knife in the chest.

Mark, Mark was one of the enigmas of this book he was a mystery we didn't know much about him from previous books we have only seen glimpses of him and the fact that he is bisexual just made me happy, Clare is known for putting Race and Sexuality in her books unlike a lot of YA Book its getting better now but this is one of the best in that field. At first i thought something was going to happen between Mark and Cristina but then he starts kissing Fae Princes and Perfect Diego comes back (more about him later) and then the ending happens so i don't think that is going to happen. But i kind of ship Mark and Kieran so i am a bit on the fence about who i want to everyone to end up with.

OMG i almost screamed when i read about Jem telling Emma about when Will literally put his hands in the fire to save his Medicine i stopped reading and posted a pic straight on Instagram

And also when Magnus and Malcolm were literally comparing their Humans like ...

'"I can't remember precisely. Magnus, stop bothering Emma and Julian," he said, and there was a tinge of something like annoyance in his voice. Professional jealousy, Emma guessed. "This is my domain. You've got your own hopeless humans in New York."
"One of those hopeless humans is the father of my child," Magnus pointed out.
Magnus had not ever been pregnant, though that would have been interesting, Emma thought. He and Alec Lightwood had an adopted Warlock child, named Max, who was a scintillating shade of navy blue.
"And," Magnus added, "the rest of them have all saved the world, at least once."
Malcolm gestured toward Julian and Emma. "I have high hopes for these."
Magnus's face broke into a grin. "I'm sure you're right." he said.'

The whole Midnight Theatre thing was actually confusing because the book is called Lady Midnight but Annabelle Blackthorn was never referred to as Lady Midnight, so i have no clue if i missed it or it was never mentioned, and the fact that all of the patrons of The Midnight Theatre are all part Downworlder and that they all have hostility toward Shadowhunters and at first we don't understand it but then everything becomes clear when we find out Annabelle's Fate.

Parabatai Law is one of those things since the series started we have thought we knew everything about but more things just keep coming it actually made sense that is the odd thing about it where one sided love and a crush means nothing but as soon as it turns into requited love then all of a sudden there runes become as powerful as a Warlock Spell. I understand why Emma did what she did at the end but it kind of killed me especially the whole Mark scenario I'm sure we are going to have to put up with like we did with Clary and Simon.

There wasn't a lot of Jem and Emma scenes but there were enough for a first book, like Emma's dad playing Jems violin, and Jem telling he his name and her realising she isn't the only Carstairs, and him telling her about Will, and just right at the beginning where she just misses him, it was all very sweet and i cant wait for more of that.

The whole relationship between Julian and Emma is a odd one i didn't really like it back when we first found out about it, i thought it was going to be drama and angst filled. But it was the opposite it was so beautifully written that it really was a friends to lovers story and it was pretty perfect. I have to admit i laughed my head off at the fact that Clare's male characters seem to get to have sex with the person they love earlier and earlier Jace took 6 books, Will took 3 and Julian took 1. I was so shocked when that happened because i wasn't expecting it at all even all of the kisses they were all in the heat of the moment and after sex they pretended like like it was nothing and they didn't love each other.

There were times when i thought that it was being dragged out and i kept thinking are we near the climax yet because this is getting a little tedious. Then finally we have the ending where we find out it was as we first sort of suspected from about page 250 that it was an inside job. But i never suspected Malcolm at all and the way it was revealed was very quick like ' Oh Malcolm's the guardian hes the one who killed Emma's parents lets sit and talk" i just couldn't get my head around how quick they put it together.

The whole conclusion scene in the Cave was pretty confusing for me and i really wish it wasn't, it was pretty anti-climactic and that is really sad i wish there was more action but we have 2 more books for action so i hope that happens.

New characters Cristina and Diego i don't know how i feel about them, i kind of ship them but at the same time the betrayal seems odd and the way his brother acted if they were going to parabatai then they have to pass tests like we saw in the Shadowhunter Academy series. Wouldn't he of failed them. i don't know how i feel about that but since there will be no Mark & Cristina like i was originally hoping for then i guess i will start shipping Mark & Kieran and Cristina & Diego. As characters go Cristina is pretty much Emma's best friend after Julian and it is a really good relationship someone who she can talk to that isn't Julian, because that is when things start getting rough. I don't particularly like Kieran right now after trying to get Mark sent back to the Wild Hunt and in turn getting Mark almost whipped and Julian and Emma whipped in the process.

Old characters made a few appearances, Jace and Clary made the most even if its just a mention, and it was so good to hear about their lives and what they are doing. And also Alec and Magnus and their little Blueberry.

A Long Conversation was something i read as i was waiting for the bus after buying this book, and i fangirled so hard reading this with Sizzy getting engaged to Magnus talking about the little boy him and Alec want to adopt from Buenos Aires and he is a Nephilim so they don't know if they will allow a Downworld to raise someone of Angel blood and you have protective Daddy Alec and also just Jace asking Clary to marry him ....

But she is dreading giving him an answer WTF i have been waiting for this and she is dreading it how in the world can she be dreading it. I can understand why people are getting fed up with this world because the books are pretty similar they just have different characters and settings. But i personally love it.

I am not saying anything about Kit because i have no words for that hopefully in the next book i can address THAT situation.

UK PAPERBACK PAGES -

37 - The only things she had faith in were revenge and Julian

41 - I think his parents may have gone overboard with the name, it like naming someone Magnificent Bastard.

85 - "I know Clary Fairchild and Jace Herondale are a famous love story, but they weren't actually brother and sister otherwise i think it would have been a ...."

"Less famous love story."

92 - Every story is a love story

252 - If they (Jace & Clary) broke up, i might have to stop believing in love entirely

327 - You're Mine

416 - No, because Magnus would have turnt me into a Hat Rack

442 - I hate being called a bitch

A Long Conversation

* - I have walked in on your ancestors doing worse

* - Can we stop being weird about Jace and Clary's sex life and get going.
